I was thinking the other day about how I might set up my new recording room, and how I might go about recording a track that uses a microphone (or even my MIDI drums) when I’m on the other side of the room.
As you may already know I’m a big fan of the REAPER software so I was particularly pleased to find that somebody has written a plugin that allows remote control of REAPER via http! This means any computer, running practically any OS can control your REAPER setup, as long as it’s connected to the network! Even internet recording sessions could take place (although I’m not sure how loud your click track would have to be for that to work 😀 ).
Here’s the thread http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=78268 and here’s the zip file http://landoleet.org/unreleased_plugins/reaper_www.zip
I’ve tried it and it’s excellent. I’ll still be in the same room so I don’t see too many issues with getting my click heard (when recording with microphones I’ll make sure there’s a headphone feed). Good stuff!
