vox ac15vr – hi vs. low master volume

i read some reviews online, one of which mentioned having the master volume high and then setting the actual volume with the channel volume control, so i thought i’d try it, see if it was any different from my usual setting of low master, high channel volume. the gain was set on around 3 o’clock on the lower gain style (od1) and the guitar is the sx sst with gfs vintage stagger alnicos, front pickup

this little progression goes:

low master, high channel volume for 1 loop
both for 1 loop
high master, low channel volume for 1 loop
both for 1 loop
low master, high channel volume for 1 loop
high master, low channel volume for 1 loop
both for 2 loops

i can hear a tiny bit more drive in the “high master” version, and perhaps it’s a tad warmer, but nothing to write home about, and there’s definitely a lot more amp hiss, so i think i’ll stick with my low-master, high-ish channel volume… hopefully this is of some use to you people out there, if there’s anybody there, that is! :-)
